GENDER SPECIFIC
Why Male Only?
WHATEVER IT TAKES.
After years of providing services and the experiences that come with leading group therapy and counseling individuals, we came to understand the key importance of treating addiction. Vulnerability. When we share with another human exactly how we’re feeling, we build a connection and find that we aren’t so alone. This is imperative in the healing journey. We believe that gender-specific treatment allows for this intimacy to be shared between clients without worry or fear.

Men’s Mental Health
Men’s struggles often are overlooked. The pressure to be a provider, protector, father, brother, and son can be overwhelming. Many men are not equipped to deal with painful emotions and often they turn to alcohol or drugs to cope with stress, anger, loneliness, and grief. At Fire Sky Recovery we support men and help them find connection, self-compassion, and acceptance by sharing and growing with the brotherhood they find here.
Specialized Men’s Addiction Treatment
We focus on specific issues that contribute to male addiction and mental health problems.
Difficulty being vulnerable
Often men have received messaging that they cannot express emotions. We are taught to never show weakness which blocks us from talking about the things that are killing us.
Communication problems
When we struggle with being vulnerable we lack the skills to effectively communicate to our wives, partners, children, family, and friends. Learning how to effectively communicate our needs can transform our lives and recovery.
Lack of insight about emotions
When we learn to stuff everything we feel and drink to numb the pain we lack the ability to recognize what’s really killing us. Learning emotional intelligence can transform our lives and relationships and paves the way to long-term recovery.
Stress
Many of the men we treat lack adequate skills in dealing with stress. Being a provider, father, boss, and husband comes with stress. Learning tools to deal with it rather than drinking can be a radical change.
Intimacy vs sex
When we lack the ability to be vulnerable and communicate we misunderstand the difference between intimacy and sex. Learning to be vulnerable allows for true intimacy with wives, partners, and other relationships which can transform our lives.
What is success?
So many men feel they are being crushed by the weight of the world underneath all of their failures. We teach our clients to define what success means for them. Whether that means career goals, family goals, or finding a new definition that fits who we are.
What is strength?
Finding our inner strength and developing our skills to become new men in recovery. We teach our clients true masculinity of courage, wisdom, hope, honesty, awareness, and being of service.
Control issues
Recognizing where and how we control others and the world around us and why is an important part of change. Men often seek to control out of a deep sense of fear. Recognizing this and working past it can help us find lasting change.
Anger
Anger is a primary emotion for men. When we’re sad we’re angry. When we’re hurt, we cover up with rage. We teach our clients to go deeper and recognize that we cover up with anger.
What about females?
At the moment we don’t have services for women but we hope to expand into that sometime soon. In the meantime, we have a great list of referrals to help you find the right services. Call us today!
